Before you start, what do you need?
- A computer with macOS (Apple silicon or Intel), Windows (x64 or Arm64) or Linux (x64 or Arm64). For Linux there are .deb, .rpm and AppImage packages.
- Access to Grok Bot, explained in step 1.
- A small task in mind. Something you’d ask a new colleague to do on their first day.
1. Do you have access?
Grok Bot is included with paid individual Cursor plans and Cursor Teams. You can also link an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus or SuperGrok Heavy subscription. Usage resets every week.
One requirement to check: Grok Bot requires cloud data storage. Legacy Privacy Mode is not supported.
We don’t list prices on this site, because they change. See the official Grok Bot site for current plans.
2. How do you install the app?
Download the desktop app for your system from the official site and install it like any other app. If you’re not sure whether your Mac has Apple silicon or Intel, open the Apple menu and choose “About This Mac”.
It’s also worth installing the app on your phone: iPhone (iOS 18 or later), iPad or Android (9 or later). Conversations sync across devices, so you can approve things without going back to the computer.
3. How do you sign in?
Open the app and sign in with your Cursor account. The sign-in happens in your browser.
4. Do you need to link SuperGrok?
Only if your access comes from an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus or SuperGrok Heavy subscription. In that case, link it when the app asks. If your access comes from a Cursor plan, you can skip this.
5. Which tools should you pick?
The onboarding asks which tools you use. Answer for the work you want to hand off, not for everything you’ve ever used. If you want help with email, pick your email. If you want help with meetings, pick your calendar.
Connectors include Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, GitHub and Vercel, among others. Start with the few that matter most.
6. How do you choose your first Bot?
Next comes a screen called “Meet a future teammate”. You can pick one of the suggested Bots or choose “Create your own”.
If you create your own, think of it as a new hire. Give it:
- a name you’ll recognize;
- a job in one sentence, like “keep my inbox under control”;
- the context a colleague would need, like who your clients are or how you like replies to sound.
One Bot, one job. You can create more Bots later.
7. What should your first task be?
Small, low-risk and easy to check. A task where a mistake costs you nothing and where you can tell in a few minutes whether the answer is good.
Here’s an example of a first message:
Look at my calendar for tomorrow and list my meetings in order. For each one, tell me in one line what I should prepare. Don't change anything in the calendar and don't send any messages.
Notice the last sentence. Saying what the Bot should not do is as useful as saying what it should do.
Read what comes back. If something is wrong or missing, say so in plain words, the way you’d correct a colleague. That correction becomes part of the context the Bot keeps.
What comes after the first task?
- Read the tips for using Grok Bot before you hand off anything important.
- See what non-coders use Bots for, from inbox triage to research.
- When a task repeats, show it to the Bot once and save it as a routine.

Frequently asked questions
Can I set it up on my phone?
The official steps start with the desktop app. There are apps for iPhone (iOS 18 or later), iPad and Android (9 or later), and conversations sync across devices, so the phone is a good place to follow up and approve things.
Do I need a Cursor account even if I have SuperGrok?
The sign-in step uses a Cursor account. If your access comes from a SuperGrok subscription, you link it after signing in. If you're unsure which applies to you, check the official get started page.
What if I pick the wrong tools during onboarding?
Pick the ones you use today for the work you want to hand off. Start with fewer. A Bot only needs the tools that its job requires.
How long does the setup take?
It depends mostly on how many tools you pick, so we won't give you a number. Starting with one or two tools gets you to your first task sooner.
